Company Students Workshop MADAGASCAR JR at Junior Theater Festival ALL STARS Camp in NYC

New York, NY– Asheville Performing Arts Academy students Hogan McLamb and Ceili Taft joined Junior Theater Festival ALL STARS from across the country to workshop Music Theatre International’s Broadway Junior cutting of MADAGASCAR JR, July 21st-25th at an exclusive MTI musical theatre camp in New York City. JTF ALL STARS were chosen for their talent at the 2014 Junior Theater Festival, Atlanta, Georgia, where the Asheville Performing Arts Academy received Excellence in Ensemble for their performance piece from ALADDIN KIDS.

 

Hogan and Ceili, cast as Ship Captain and Rico the Penguin, worked with famed theatre professionals throughout the week. They also took this opportunity to explore the city and see a few Broadway shows!

Hogan and Ceili are both members of the ACADEMY TRAINING PROGRAM at the Asheville Performing Arts Academy. As a Prep-Academy student, Ceili takes dance and acting classes at the APAA in addition to rehearsals for the community shows. Hogan, who received the teacher’s choice award for Dance at the 2014 APAA Academy Awards, takes dance, music, acting, and tech classes as a part of the ACADEMY TRAINING PROGRAM, in addition to rehearsals for both the community shows and the Academy-only productions.

Academy student Sarah Plaut also went to New York this summer after being recognized for her talent at the 2014 Junior Theater Festival. There she worked on the choreography DVD for THE LION KING JR.
