Children's Theatre Classes Fall 2022 Asheville, NC
We are excited to kickoff our theatre opportunities for children throughout the fall of 2022. There are a variety of ways to be involved with Asheville Performing Arts Academy!
Whether your child joins The Company (grades 6-12), The Prep Program (grades 1-8), our Homeschool Program (ages 7-18), or for individual community shows, we have a way for everyone to be involved in the Arts.
New this year, the APAA is introducing the JTF Performance Competition Team. This elite small group ensemble will have the honor of participating in the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta in January 2023. More information about JTF and auditions can be found here.
Here is our upcoming lineup for fall 2022 in Asheville:
- Homeschool Academy: Our program provides students opportunities to build the arts into their homeschool curriculum. This fall, students will begin working on PUFFS (A One Act for Young Wizards) in a weekly production class. Registration is open now.
- Youth Community Shows: Children in grades 1st through 12th have the opportunity to join the cast for Newsies Jr. Rehearsals begin in September with performances in December. We take a limited number of actors in each show, and make sure that each actor, whether a lead or ensemble member, is featured in a way that makes them shine.
- Prep Program: The Prep Program is a pre-conservatory style program for those students who are excited to dive deeper into musical theatre. Prep students participate in weekly classes that develop their skills as an artist along with two full productions each year. Prep students will participate in Newsies JR this Fall and A Year With Frog & Toad this Spring. Registration is open for the Prep program.
- Company: The Company program is a conservatory program for older artists who are honing their theatrical talents through weekly classes in Dance, Acting, and Music. The Company students also put on a two fully produced musical each year and attend theatrical performances/conferences. This fall, Middle School Company members will perform in Newsies JR and High School Company members will perform in Rent: School Edition. Students must interview to join the program. Learn more information about the Company program here.
